The Church of Ireland parish church dates from 1861.The town Market House has held prisoners of all sides during the holocaust of 1798, while Goreys streets and surrounding districts were wincing with the sound of marching feet and open debauchery. Saint Michaels Catholic parish church was planned by the world famous architect Pugin, who is said to have been inspired by Dunbrody Abbey for his work on Saint Michaels. Pugin also designed the Loreto Convent which is next to Saint Michaels. Gorey and its surroundings have plenty to offer its visitors. The town itself offers fantastic Pugin and listed architecture. It is a perfect base for exploring both Wexford and Wicklow. Gorey Gorey (Irish: Guaire), is a market town in north County Wexford Ireland, located beside the main N11 Dublin to Wexford road. Five supermarkets compete for customers in the town. For visitors hoping to stay in Gorey, there are two modern hotels, both with leisure centre, swimming pools, and conference facilities available.
